Mobile Location with AIMS - Consideration for beta testers

We hope that the beta testing is underway in a good and positive way. However, here we would like to point out a limitation of the Mobile Location enabler that directly affects one of the major functionalities of the AIMS project. This will also be true for everyone using the enabler in their projects.

Woops streaming server down

I just noticed that the server which movies are being streamed from is currently down and as I don't have physical acces to it I won't be able to reset it.

I hope ericsson can take this in to consideration when evaluating Woops, I have uploaded the demo video of the app it self to the database but it is being streamed from youtube's streaming server.
So there's atleast one movie that is able to stream.

Sorry for any inconvenience this may cause to the evaluating team, I will try to get the server going as as possible.

Best regards
Haval Aziz

Mobile Location with AIMS: Reviewers please read!

It is good that the project we submitted is currently under testing phase. However, we have identified few limitations of the Ericsson's Mobile Location enabler that might result in unknown locations during the test phase. For example, as Ericsson states on the enabler's website that:

"The cell-ID Look-up has information about the positions of mobile network cells from all over the world but as any cell-ID database it does not have 100% coverage of all cells in any location."

Commutity

Commutity is a mobile application enabling intelligent ridesharing, reducing costs and C02 emissions for individuals, organizations, and society. By using mobile connectivity and location tracking, Commutity matches and connects individuals with similar commuting patterns hereby facilitating intelligent ridesharing.

A new webpage was published this week www.commutity.com and soon a web interface for commuting will be introduced to the beta users. Additional features will be added to the application thereby facilitating ridesharing for commuters.

Introducing beaconnow.com

BeaconNow.com is social networking like application (dubbed as discovery networking website by the authors). Over the past few months there has been a lot of interest in social networking features which let you connect with people and things which you would not usually connect with (Chat Roulette being the prime example) Also in the past few months a lot of social networking sites have sprung up focusing on location based social data (4square being prime example in this case).

Given that, done that!

Why not provide some additional functionality when you are given more time to work? Thats what we did. After the extension of the submission deadline, we made few tweaks in our project so that it looks better, and works better. In the end, we are happy to submit the final version++ and hope that it turns out to be good during the evaluation phase.

All the best to the remaining participants!

The AIMS project team

Finally!

After having done intense coding and spending nights for the development of the AIMS project, we finally submitted it for evaluation. The most problematic thing was the video for us.

This was because the goal of our project cannot be clarified if only the mobile application is demonstrated. On one hand we had to demonstrate the complete functionality and the purpose of the AIMS project, and on the other hand we were asked to make a video of < 3 minutes! This was difficult, but we managed it in the end.
