Stage 1: Technology for Good Apps Competition

Do you have an idea for an app that can help solve global challenges in two key areas:

1. social and economic development
2. energy and climate change

The good news is that you have until October 10th to submit your idea.

DESCRIPTION:
For the first stage (Stage 1) of the Ericsson Application Awards, teams are asked to submit a video of their idea for an app. We are looking for innovative ideas where you can make a difference. As part of Ericsson's commitment to using Technology for Good in a networked society, we are calling on you to present an idea for an app focused on solving global challenges such as climate, education, poverty alleviation, refugees, disaster relief, agriculture, access to energy, transportation solutions, smart homes and buildings, and weather.

STAGE 1 SUBMISSION DATE:
Monday, October 10th, 2011, by midnight Pacific Time

PRIZE:
Members of the winning teams will each receive a Sony Ericsson Xperia arc phone and a scholarship in the winning team’s name donated to a girl living in Sub-Saharan Africa.
Winners will be announced on the EAA website on October 18th.

WHAT YOU HAVE TO DO:

1. Register a user account. (One per team member)
2. Register your team (Click "Team sign-up" and fill out the form).
   Please note: the team will be available after approval.
3. Submit a video, no longer than 3 minutes, that will do two things:

• - Introduce your team and
• - Describe how your idea for an app can contribute to a good cause in the Networked Society

To do this, click "Create Project Submission" in the menu "My Team." Fill out the form and upload your video. Accepted formats for your video are: AVI, QT, WMV or H.264, MPEG-2, MPEG-4.

HELPFUL HINTS:
To introduce your team, the video should include:

• - Team name
• - Name of the team members
• - Country you are representing
• - Your university or company name

The way you promote your idea is up to you; however, you might want to consider these possibilities:

• - A problem or an opportunity you wish to solve with your app
• - A situation or a context where your app will be helpful
