Today we are announcing the launch of a regional competition for application developers, startups and visionaries living in sub-Saharan Africa.
We are calling this regional competition ‘Apps for African City Life’ and it’s part the global 2013 Ericsson Application Awards (EAA 2013).
This competition runs until January 25th, 2013 and just like the main competition, we will accept entries in two categories: one for students and the other for small and medium-sized enterprises.
Teams are required to develop an application based on the Android platform that addresses the theme, ‘Apps for African City Life’ which is designed to promote the development of innovative ideas and mobile applications to address situations specific to urban centers across the region.
Now on to the important stuff … the prizes!
Winners of the African regional competition will win Android tablets.
1st prize: 64GB Android tablet
2nd prize: 32GB Android tablet
3rd prize: 16GB Android tablet
Entrants who participate in the African competition are also automatically entered into the global competition with a chance to win up to €25,000!
